The RS9 Theatre functions in the form of non-profit Association in the district. It has opened in 1990 partially from own resources and partially with a support of the Soros Foundation. The first premiere was in 1990 with a play by Gombrowicz, that was later awarded in Poland with the prize for the best direction on the festival of “Polish Theatre Works” and we also were given the “Critic’s Choice” award of the Guardian on the Edinburgh Festival. We got several invitations from abroad. Yearly 100-140 performances take place in the theatre receiving 70 people at one time.
